The festival will be making it debut in 2017!
Tata Trusts are launching their inaugural event “Kalapana” this month on the 7th and 8th of January as part of their Media, Arts, Crafts and Culture (MAC) portfolio. The two-day festival will be held at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya(CSMVS) lawns in Kala Ghoda.

The festival has come about to celebrate the talented art forms of the various organisations that are supported by the Tata Trust in an effort to preserve and promote contemporary arts and crafts in India. Across the two days, three performing arts as well as 10 craft organisations from different parts of the country will get to display their work.
Some of the performances will include artists from the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts in Bangalore, Dhrupad Sansthan from Bhopal and the Ninasam Theatre Institute from Heggodu in Karnataka. The Visitor Centre will have a craft exhibition with items created from handloom weaving, embroideries, leather and Dhokra Metal from the Natural Fiber Craft and Folk Art.
The best part is that the entry for the festival is free but on first-come, first-serve basis. So you’ll have to make sure you get there on time to grab your pass. The craft exhibition begins at 10.30 am and the performing arts events start at 6.30 pm.
