Festival season is creeping up, and one of the hardest decisions for any lover of music to ever make is picking which EDM festival to attend. With the standard promises of better experiences, atmospheres, and line-ups than ever before, it can be hard to decide which festival is most tailored to fit your personal needs and requirements. To the undecided, never fear! Your prayers have been answered. Here is a comprehensive analysis of the best music festivals in May and June of 2017. 

1. Middlelands

When: May 5-7

Price: A 3-Day General Admission ticket to Middlelands is $205. The 3-Day VIP passes are $410.

The debut edition of Middlelands has already received some great feedback from the community for its impressive line-up and ability to create an immersive experience. With Insomniac and C3 working together to achieve this goal, the festival promises to go beyond our wildest imagination. The festival will be headlined by Bassnectar, Major Lazer. Big Gigantic, Griz and Seven Lions!

Middlelands 2017 will be held at the Texas Renaissance Festival Fairgrounds and will be completely unlike the EDM festivals we all know and love. The festival aims to recreate an atmosphere of what life was like a hundred years ago, with an added electronic twist. Merging the world of the Renaissance and the incredible atmosphere of a music festival, Middlelands is bound to be an extraordinary experience. This steampunk-esque bonanza is sure to spearhead a movement of other such festivals with unique takes on the modern EDM scene.

2. Sunset Music Festival

When: May 27-28

Price: A 2-Day general admission ticket to SMF will cost approximately $150. A 2-Day VIP admission ticket costs roughly $240.

The Sunset Music Festival takes place at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL. One of Florida‘s most anticipated dance music festival events of the year, the venue has the ability to fit close to a hundred thousand people within it. Conveniently located near some of Florida’s best beaches, SMF has a reputation for being one of the best EDM festivals around. This year’s festival will be headlined by Major Lazer. RL Grime, Above & Beyond, Zeds Dead and Yellow Claw!

Last year, each stage was crammed with enough talent to hold you over for the entirety of the day, with performances by FuntCase, Cash Cash, The Snails, The Chainsmokers and Jack U. 3. Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival

When: June 8-11

Price: A 4-Day General Admission ticket to Bonnaroo is approximately $350.

The largest outdoor festival in North America, Bonnaroo takes place at Great Stage Park. About 100,000 fans flock to the rolling countryside of Machester, TN year after year, to celebrate their shared appreciation of music, art, entertainment and friendship. Bonnaroo is packed with fun activities for both young children and aged adults alike. Their aim is to create an atmosphere in which nobody is alienated because of their age or ethnicity. This year’s festival will be headlined by Flume, The Weeknd, Chance The Rapper, Major Lazer and the Red Hot Chili Peppers!

Attendees can look forward to beginning their day by participating in an early morning yoga class or expressing their creativity through a variety of artist workshops. Pangs of hunger can be satiated at the Food Truck Oasis, which hosts some of the most mouth-watering gourmet food you have yet to taste. However, food vendors can become an increasingly expensive source of nutrition at festivals. Our advice to anyone looking to lower costs? Carry snacks of your own and spend your money on wider conquests!

4. EDC Las Vegas

When: Jun 16-18

Price: General Admission tickets are currently available for $355.

Although no official line-up for 2017 has been released, EDC has sustained its reputation for being one of the best music festivals in the world year in and year out, with some of the biggest names in EDM rocking the stages. Conveniently located within 15-miles of the Las Vegas Strip, EDC is essentially a ravers paradise, with the Las Vegas Motor Speedway offering its 1,200 acres for ravers to gather underneath an electric sky. The eight massive stages‘ radiance can be felt far beyond the festival grounds, much to the envy of anyone not attending.

There are plenty of amazing sensory experiences to be had and felt at EDC, including some of the craziest stage production in the history of live entertainment. From the moment you step onto the hallowed ground of the festival, it is as if you were reborn into a universe that defies all logic. Inside EDC, the rules of the outside world do not hold ground. 5.Electric Forest

Price: General Admission tickets to Electric Forest are sold out for the first weekend, but you can still snag a ticket to its second weekend for a price of approximately $300.

Over the last decade, the Electric Forest festival has taken the nation by storm. Located at the Doube JJ Resort in western Michigan, which has been the festival’s home since 2011, there is never a boring moment inside this enormous campground. With so much increased demand, Electric Forest has included a second weekend in their itinerary to include more people in the Forest festivities, following the trend of expansions from several EDM festivals to compensate for the growing influence of dance music in the entertainment industry. This year’s headliners for the festival will be Bassnectar, Flume, Dillon Francis, Odesza, Above & Beyond and RL Grime!

One of the top choices on everyone’s list of dream festivals to attend, Electric Forest brings art to life by complimenting nature with its visually captivating art installments. Each venture into the campground leaves you with a new experience. The festival also prides itself on having a safe environment for self-expression without the fear of judgment from others. There are various paths to be taken through the forest, but no matter which you choose, the Electric Forest has a way of leading you to where you’re meant to be.

6. Paradiso Festival

When: Jun 23-24

Price: A ticket to Paradiso costs $199.

Taking place at Gorge Amphitheater in Washington State, the Paradiso festival is set at one of the most beautiful concert locations in the world. Besides the natural acoustics of the venue producing a far superior sound quality, festivalgoers are also treated to a view of the Columbia River and Columbia Gorge Canyon. This year’s headliners include Tiesto, Zeds Dead, Zomboy, Porter Robinson and Yellow Claw.
