The Gorgeous Saree Festival Is Back!

During a time where multiple fashion weeks dominate stages in India showcasing the future of clothing, The Saree Festival aims to celebrate the simplest yet most fashionable aspect of Indian clothing: the classic Saree!

In their words, ‘The Saree Festival attempts to create an ongoing tribute to this most wondrous, most amoebic pahnawa.’ Now in its third edition, The Saree Festival has two main sections: The Saree Mela, which will showcase all kinds and sizes of sarees, and Saree ka Gunijan Khana, an initiative that “hopes to bring together various voices and ideas around the Saree”, according to their website.

A neat touch to this festival is the ‘no phones’ policy. The festival will ask you to switch off your phones before entering the venue, bringing the focus on the sarees instead of your phone screens.

If you have even a passing interest in finding out how the venereal saree has become such an important part of our culture, head over to their website and attend the festival!

The Saree Festival will take place from April 13-17, at Alliance Francaise, New Delhi.
