The United States is pretty loaded with music festivals in June, and The Sherp has selected the best and brightest ones you shouldn’t miss if you’re in the country next month.
1. Bonnaroo

The Tennessee-based mega festival has been active since 2002, and has gotten some of the biggest musical acts in the past; Arctic Monkeys, Nine Inch Nails, Jay Z and Bob McDylan are only a handful of several performers who’ve graced the stage at Bonnaroo. The 2016 edition will mark 15 years of Bonnaroo’s existence. This year’s edition will feature acts like Pearl Jam, Tame Impala, LCD Soundsystem and Ellie Goulding and many, many more, making this one hard to miss.

2. Mysteryland

Mysteryland is relatively new to the USA; the Netherlands-based music festival only entered America in the year 2014. That being said, it still kicks serious ass. This year will see headliners like ODESZA, Skrillex and Bassnectar, among a host of other creative acts. With multiple camping options, a Healing Garden and a Fashion Bazaar, Mysteryland promises to be a fun-filled extravaganza for all its attendees.

3. Electric Forest

Called Rothbury Festival when it debuted in 2008 owing to its location at Rothbury, Michigan, the festival changed its name to Electric Forest only in 2011. The 2015 edition alone saw 45,000 attendees, and 2016 promises to be a much bigger affair. Bassnectar is listed as a headliner here too, and joining him will be Major Lazer and The String Cheese Incident. And, just as the name suggests, it happens in a forest. With a plethora of camping options (you can even bring your RVs), Electric Forest is the way to go if you’re into forest-themed festivals!

4. Electric Daisy Carnival

The mammoth event in Nevada is all set to come back to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. EDC Las Vegas will celebrate 20 years of its existence this year. It’s an all-out carnival, complete with costumes, theatrics, artwork and much more. The festival hasn’t made an official lineup announcement as of yet, but the lineup for EDC Week should give you a hint of who’s going to be there at the main festival.

5. Firefly

Alongside some amazing music, the Firefly festival will have a brewery, a coffee house, hammock lounges, an exclusive party deep in the forest and much more. Happening in Denver, Firefly will feature the likes of M83, Porter Robinson, Major Lazer, Of Monsters And Men, Tame Impala and many more amazing acts.
6. Paradiso

The debut edition of Paradiso in 2012 attracted 20,000 people, and the numbers have only increased since. Situated in Washington, Paradiso happens by the Columbia River, at The Gorge Amphitheatre, making for an extremely scenic spot. The lineup for this year looks pretty sick, featuring 12th Planet, Excision, Dirtyphonics, Astrix and What So Not among several others, encompassing a variety of electronic sub genres.

7. Summerfest

Come June 29, Milwaukee’s Summerfest will commence, and will go on till July 10. It’s probably the biggest on this list, with a staggering 11 stages and over 700 bands performing. Comedy acts, shopping vendors, fireworks: Summerfest has it all. You have Paul McCartney, Selena Gomez, Blake Shelton, Passion Pit and Jason Derulo featured on the lineup this year, so it’s already going to be good. Unfortunately, there’s no poster for their lineup, but it’s all on their official website.
8. Governor’s Ball

Since 2011, Governor’s Ball has been a showcase of the best artists from all kinds of genres, and 2016 will see it happen on a much larger scale. The festival happens on Randall’s Island in New York, and will feature some pretty influential acts this year. You have Kanye West, Beck, Bob Moses and M83 among other class acts. It promises to be a fun affair for everyone!

9. What The Festival

Splash pools, camping in the jungle, playing with hula hoops: What The Festival has it all. It’s an all-electronic festival that happens in Oregon at Mt. Hood National Forest. It’s a 4-day event and it has featured some amazing lineups in the past. WTF has a pretty eclectic lineup this time, with acts like Bonobo, Thievery Corporation, Claude Vonstroke and Djemba Djemba, among a few others.

10. Sonic Bloom

One of Colorado’s biggest music festivals, Sonic Bloom happens in Denver, and is held over the Summer Solstice. It has been around since 2006, and has featured some really good acts in the previous editions. This year’s edition will consist of a lineup that has The OPUIO Band, Bonobo, Tipper, Giraffage and FKJ, among a few more acts. Filled with live painting, yoga classes and a kids’ zone along with a few other features, Sonic Bloom looks pretty impressive to say the least.
