‘Game Of Thrones’ Filming Location Announced As Venue For MOGA Festival 2017!

All set to return for its second edition! 

The electronic music and digital arts fest – Moga Festival is going to take place in the stunning setting of Essaouira in Morocco. Game Of Thrones Fans will recognize it as the location of Astapor aka The Red City in the TV series. The dates for the 2017 edition have been announced for October 13th – 15th ! 

The event will shine a light on Moroccan, Maghrebian and African scenes and artists. They will be hosting a number of quality underground international names too. As part of the event, headliners work with Gnawa musicians to create music for a special concert. Last year, the audience was left mesmerized all thanks to headliners –  Amê and dOP who performed with Gnawa musicians for the special concert. Other highlights included stellar performances from Ron Morelli, DJ Tennis, Terekke, YokoO, Mind Against, Magda, Lee Burridge, SIS, and much more.

And that’s not all! They want to get locals, tourists and festival-goers involved with a free “Off Festival”. This will offer talks, workshops, fusion events, dance creation shows, masterclasses, training MAO, exhibitions, and movies for the attendees. Check out the event link here.
These events will all take place across the city in venues like Sofitel Mogador, Skala du Port (used as a set for the Game of Thrones TV series), as well as the French Institute, the Dar Souiri cultural center, and Taros Café.
The three-day festival is all about new cultural exchanges, exciting scenes and sounds all coming together. So imagine being surrounded by grand old architecture with local culture and cuisine.
