Festival-influenced fashion is every retailer’s new goldmine.

At large scale Indie festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza and SXSW some would say that fashion has taken precedence over the music.  And while that may be little too cynical of a thought, it is true that these festivals have become breeding grounds for hip-tastic bohemian fashion.

Music festival style has gained momentum with large scale fashion houses going the extra mile. Forever 21, Nasty Gal and American Eagle Outfitters have launched specific clothing lines that cater to festival trends.

American Eagle Outfitters have made famous (and quite mainstream) ‘The Festival Shortie’ – a basic distressed pair of denim cut offs – something you often see Kristen Stewart lounging in. A lot of their other festival clothing includes loose tank tops with geometric designs.

Forever 21 – a brand that has always been known to cater to the young and hip (and the size of their pockets) launched their Festival Capsule Collection just before Coachella this year. The line includes a burst of prints, prints and prints! Along with some distressed denims, fringe boots, boho and maxi dresses, lace –ups, stud embellishments, crop tops and the works! For men, the collection extends to printed tank tops, cuffed pants, jean shorts and neon-rimmed wayfarers, of course.

Taking essentially the same route, H&M, Nasty Gal and even smaller boutique stores have come out with their festival fashion look books.

With the growth and continuance of these music festivals it’s safe to say that festival influenced fashion will also grow. Summer collections for retailers can be made easy as they need not look elsewhere for inspiration!
