Festivals Boot Ten Walls For Homophobic Comments

Setting up a formidable precedent, festivals like Creamfields, PITCH, Sónar, Pukkelpop and Urban Art Forms Festivals have dropped producer Ten Walls from their line-up in response to his homophobic statements.

Ten Walls had earlier taken to his Facebook page, posting in Lithuanian, to compare the homosexual community to pedophiles. The post has since been removed, but was extremely scathing, not to mention, bigoted in nature.

While one can assume that statements of such kind might be ignored, festivals sprung into action, by dropping Ten Walls like hot cake! One by one, each of the above mentioned festivals issued statements taking a personal stand against discrimination and prejudice.

Since then, in an article published in The Guardian, Ten Walls seems to have apologised for the comments, as he was quoted saying, “I hope this misunderstanding will not provoke any more thoughts and opinions.” Except, the damage was done, leaving no space for any misunderstanding.

Last week I wrote a Facebook post that was wrong and completely out of character and the result was a badly written post…

We applaud the festivals for taking a stand, as no space warrants discrimination of any kind, especially the all inclusive festival space.
