It is the first of it’s kind to help the hard of hearing enjoy the festival!
Music festivals are going above and beyond to help everyone get equal accessibility in order to get the most immersive experience. Now, one particular festival is providing aid to those who are hard of hearing.
Aid The Silent announced that Good Vibrations Music & Art Festival will be taking place in Austin, Texas this summer on the 20th of May and they will be the first hard of hearing accessible music festival. According to the event organizers, the festival will feature live captioning and interpretation in American Sign Language (ASL), T coiling, vibrating backpacks and a visual light show that will be synced with the live performances. All of these facilities will be made possible with the help of the non-profit, Aid the Silent.
The founder of Aid The Silent, Emma Faye Ruskin stated in an interview, “Music, in particular, was something I’ve always loved. I want others who are deaf and hard-of-hearing to experience the passion in a way unknown— to feel with their entire body. Through what Aid The Silent is doing, I want to be able to help the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.”
The community strives to help all those families who do not have adequate resources to provide the needed attention that the deaf need. All the proceeds from the festival will be going to the foundation’s four major branches which are deaf education, deaf ministry, deaf research and deaf resources.
