Electric Forest gets creative with their 2016 initial lineup announcement.
150 lucky people woke up yesterday to a surprise in their mailbox; the name of an artist who would be part of the 2016 Electric Forest lineup. The mail further contained instructions on how the receiver was supposed to be as imaginative as possible in announcing the artist on social media with the hashtag #EF2016Reveal. Electric Forest will be held in Michigan on June 23-26 and is already completely sold out.
The unconventional method was an attempt to curb their lineup from leaking online like it has in past years. By hand mailing the lineup they not only solved that problem but also added a personal touch for the forest community. The people who followed the instructions were added as part of the official announcement on their website and social media which was constantly being updated to ensure legitimacy. Before the Forest HQ uploaded the entire lineup, fans on Reddit were feverishly trying to compile and update the lists but it’s all here now.
The lineup features The String Cheese Incident, Bassnectar and Major Lazer headlining alongside acts such as Beats Antique, Bonobo, Flosstradamus, Gorgon City, Keys N Krates and others.
