Dutch Influence

A film that highlights the contribution of the Dutch empire to the world of dance music.

Holland has been one of the greatest contributors to dance music, and that is the gospel. The Dutch have been ruling the dance music world for quite some time now, and continue to do so. Not only do they host the world’s leading electronic music conference – the Amsterdam Dance Event, but churn out some of the most talented producers the world has ever seen – from Eurodance acts like Venga Boys and eminent drum & bass acts like Noisia to the globally-acclaimed dance music legends like Tiesto and Armin van Buuren, who pack some of the biggest venues on the planet. The Netherlands is also home to ID&T’s Sensation, one of the world’s largest trance events.

And finally, here is a full-fledged movie on the subject – Dutch Influence. The film, which is set to release in theatres on October 18, talks about the tales of the colossal triumph of the Dutch dance scene worldwide. In the trailer we see a glimpse of some distinguished producers talk about their experience and what it takes to revolutionize dance music.

The documentary tracks down these Dutch stars to some of the most enchanting cities like Las Vegas, Ibiza, London, and Amsterdam and also to the Miami Music Week, which is one of the leading dance events in the world. The film also talks about how a while back, some of these artists were not even recognized. But thanks to the rest of the world gradually embracing this genre, they have gained acceptance from their own people. The luminaries that feature on ‘Dutch Influence’ include ID&T co-founder Duncan Stutterheim, Laidback Luke, Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Tiesto, Sander van Doorn, Mitch Crown, Sidney Samson, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Don Diablo, Hardwell, Nicky Romero, Gregor Salto, Fedde Le Grand, DJ Headhunterz, Chuckie and many more.

The film will have its official opening at the Amsterdam Dance Event this month.

Here are some remarkable quotes from the legends themselves in the trailer below:

We are a small country and we want to conquer the world.Tiesto

It has become an integral part of the music scene. A cultural movement. Of which I’m just a small part.Armin van Buuren

It’s funny to see that it’s becoming big here now, while we’ve been doing this for 20 years already. America was leading on hip-hop, RnB, jazz… But not house music. – Duncan Stutterheim

If you are abroad and you tell people that you are from Holland, you have all the attention. Immediately. – Mitch Crown

If you’re from Holland, you must be good.Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano

The best part about winning a Grammy for me was that people in the Netherlands finally knew what I was doing.Afrojack

It has always been the golden rule. If you can play in Holland, you can play anywhere.Sander van Doorn
