Coachella City To Host A New Festival Called Day Of The Dead

The California city will celebrate its Hispanic heritage with this two-day event which “honours the dead and celebrates the living”

The city of Coachella has added another feather to its cap. Home to one of the most popular American music festivals, Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, it will now host another big event, titled Día de los Muertos or Day Of The Dead on November 1-2.

The festival is based on a Latino festivity by the same name, which falls around the same time every year. On the day, Hispanics pay tribute to their loved ones who have passed on, and also celebrate their families by indulging in feasting and revellery.

By turning a niche tradition into mainstream celebration, the organisers, Rodri Entertainment, are hoping to offer Hispanics as wells as non-Hispanics a chance to experience a unique affair.  According to the company’s CEO, Rodri J. Rodríguez,

“Our festival reinforces a positive way of looking at life and death through the many experiences we provide.”

The festival will feature many performances, art installations and culinary delights. The music line-up includes the Mexican group Conjunto Primavera, Banda Macho, Noel Torres, and many others.
