The artist is evolving and will be losing his moniker.
Chet Faker, Australia’s electronica musician, will be ditching his stage name and will be producing and releasing more music under his real name, Nick Murphy. The musician announced his decision to change his stage name on Facebook and Twitter early this morning.
“Its been half a decade since I started releasing music as Chet Faker and all of you have been the driving force behind the music since. There’s an evolution happening and I wanted to let you know where its going. The next record will be under my own name, Nick Murphy. Chet Faker will always be a part of the music. This is next”.

The singer, who shot to fame after the release of the album “Built On Glass”, has been touring since 2014 and is now recording a new album. He has hinted at taking a new direction in terms of his work for a while and this news confirms the same. It will be interesting to see if this brings a change in his music style, but we’re ready for him to take out some new work. Fans have been supportive of this change too and “trust his artistry to produce the same quality of music”.
His previous material has been hugely popular all over the world and has won him a few awards as well as nominations for videography. His biggest strength lies in his adaptability for most of his live performances, where he keeps changing instruments for his sets and with a solid cover of “No Diggity” we’re sure he can ease us into a new sound.
He’s set to perform at the Pitchfork Music Festival this October, maybe he’ll showcase some new material there.
