8 Artists To Look Out For At This Year’s Governor’s Ball

New York City’s most popular festival, Governor’s Ball, is finally here, and it has a more-than-spectacular lineup to boast of.

Several amazing talents are billed to perform at the annual festival this year, and The Sherp has picked a few influential acts that you should most definitely look out for. You might know some of them very well, but not know about the others. Nevertheless, here’s the gist.

1. Beck

The Grammy award-winning act is a multi-instrumentalist and producer whose creativity knows no bounds. He won album of the year during the 2015 Grammys for Morning Phase, and his thirteenth (!!!) studio album is on the way. Who knows, he might perform a few tracks from it. It’s going to be hard to miss Beck’s set, and you’d be foolish to do so.

2. Kanye West

Does Kanye need an introduction? He made surprise appearances at Coachella this year, and is riding high on the success of his latest work, The Life Of Pablo. You’ll probably hear some of it at Govball this year. Let’s see if ‘Ye has some antics up his sleeve on stage this year.

3. M83

Anthony Gonzalez has been a busy man as of late. The new M83 album, Junk, only came out this April, and the act has been listed on lineups of a few more festivals apart from Governor’s Ball. It has been 4 years since M83 last released an album, so it’s always good to hear some new stuff from the nu-gaze act. This one’s not to miss.

4. Action Bronson

The rapper’s hometown happens to be NYC, so this one should be good. Action Bronson’s flow is aggressive yet tells a story. The rapper has several mixtapes and 2 studio albums under his belt. We’ll have to wait and see what the New Yorker is going to unleash on stage at this year’s Govball.

5. Chet Faker

One of the best electronica acts to come out of Australia, Chet Faker has come a long, long way. His performances are soulful and his music even more so. Faker’s Govball performance might just put you into a permanent state of tranquil, and it shouldn’t be missed for the world.

6. Chvrches

The band just recorded a track for the dystopian game Mirror’s Edge, which also depicts how the band loves to innovate with their sound. They’re also performing at Glastonbury this year. Don’t miss the trio’s set this year; Chvrches is a phenomenal act that’ll blow your socks off.

7. Galantis

They’re only one album old but Galantis has made serious waves in the electronic music scene. Their hit single Runaway (U & I) was released eons ago but still sounds fresh. Their second studio album is on the way, and they might play some unreleased stuff this year, so watch out for that!

8. Bob Moses

The duo has been listed as one of the top 20 live acts by Resident Advisor twice, in 2014 and 2015, so you know what to expect. They also performed on The Ellen Show in January this year. They came up only in 2015, and have an ardent fan following. Don’t miss their electronic set; it’ll definitely give you the vibes.
