AC/DC have just announced their tour dates for next year, and there’s a Glastonbury-shaped hole in them.
The band, responsible for some of the biggest hits in rock ‘n roll history like “Back in Black”, “Highway to Hell” and “Thunderstruck”, just released dates for their tour in UK and Europe. They will be playing at two places in the UK in June – Manchester’s Etihad Stadium and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stadium in London. But the dates leave a gap on the weekend of Glastonbury (June 22-26), which has led people to speculate that they might be headlining it next year.
AC/DC has never played at Glastonbury, but headlined Coachella last year. In keeping with the trend of heavier rock ‘n roll headliners after Metallica in 2014, Glastonbury could see the Brian Johnson-fronted band stun crowds in 2016. We’re definitely keeping our fingers crossed – this could be a truly epic set. Tickets have already sold out for next year, and bookies have been attempting to guess headliners for quite some time now.
