Imagine a sea of 2.5 million tulips basking in all their glory.
The debut edition of this annual Canadian festival has its roots in 1950, when Dutch native Peter Wamerdam started growing flowers on the site as a homage to his country’s heritage. It only makes sense that his granddaughter Alexis is the brainchild behind this potentially massive flower festival!

If you’re in Vancouver before May 1, make sure you do not miss this, as the festival is a daily affair till then, opening its doors at 9am and shutting them by 6pm.
There are lots of things to do at the festival; it has a picnic park, duck races, a hay bale playground and even a bouquet picking center. Called U-Pick, attendees can handpick their own personal bouquets and take them home.

If you want more ways to pass your time while you’re in the Fraser Valley area, there are local breweries and wineries nearby, along with the Greater Vancouver Zoo and Cultus Lake, which makes it a much sweeter affair!
