If you haven’t booked your slots for the Memorial Day Weekend bonanza, The Sherp gives you 7 reasons to attend the New York leg of the carnival this year.

New York has been a busy place of late in terms of the sheer number of electronic music gatherings going down in the Big Apple this summer. Possibly the biggest of them all – The Electric Daisy Carnival is also set to take place at the Metlife Stadium from 24th – 25th May. Now, in it’s 3rd year in the states, this year’s edition is looking like it’s going to be the biggest one since.

Each whirling amusement ride, interactive art installation, playful performing character, and art cars add to the spectacle of the show, while the passion and enthusiasm of the fans – makes EDC New York stand as one of the The American East Coast’s most memorable music events.

The Sherp sheds light on 7 incredible things to watch out for at Electric Daisy Carnival, NY:

1. Magnificent Stages

The festival will include four iconic stage themes : kineticFIELD, circuitGROUNDS, cosmicMEADOW & neonGARDEN. EDC NY is renowned for its cutting edge designs & out –of-this-world production.  Each of these stages will have its own unique personality that is brought to life with sophisticated lighting design & advanced sound systems.  This year’s festival will marks the debut of the OWL, a breathtaking, 40 – foot – tall, 70-foot-wide animatronic centerpiece that literally comes to life, reacting to the music in real time while spreading out it’s massive wings.

2. Dazzling Pyrotechnics

Who doesn’t love fireworks? The festival will boast of cannon – sized fireworks big enough to light up the entire skyline. With multiple firework shows throughout the Memorial Day weekend, the place is going to light up like Diwali. Each night will feature an extensive and original seven – minute show that requires over 6,500 firework shells. The firework department is taken care of by the same guys who provided shows for the Olympic Games in Beijing, Salt Lake City & Los Angeles.

3. Carnival Rides

Take a break from the music and hop on to the EDC Carnival rides – A Ferris Wheel which will take you high atop the festival grounds and give you an awe-inspiring, owl’s eye view of the action. Other thrilling rides include Orbiter, Vertigo, Himalaya, Dream Catcher & Rock Star Bumper Cars.  All these activities can be availed free of any excessive charge. A great way to capture the best view of the festival.

4. Exquisite Art Installations

The awe-inspiring artwork spread throughout EDC NY will turn MetLife’s grounds into an interactive playground. All five of the art installations at this year’s festival were curated just for Insomniac (The Organizers), with four designed specifically with the EDC NY Experience in mind. Coupled with special effects, fire displays, water works and illuminated art, the towering installations and dramatic décor  will bring the festival to life.  Some of the installations include:

The Caterpilar – a 30 ft tall, projection – mapped rotating structure powered by the Headliners themselves.

Knight Owl – a 10 ft tall owl designed as a knight in shining armor, forged from metal and spitting fire into the sky and many more dazzling pieces of art.

5. The Festival Encourages Charitable Giving

For EDC NY, Team Insomniac has joined forces with LifeBeat, the leading NPO dedicated to educating America’s youth about HIV/AIDS prevention through the power of music. For each festival Insomniac’s charitable giving initiative allocates $1 per ticket transaction and $10 per guest list attendee.  In addition to a $25,000 dollar donation from the organizers, LifeBeat will host a booth at the festival this year, where they will distribute information about HIV as well as free condoms for festival attendees.

6. Stunning Line Up

One cannot lay his/her eyes off the stellar talent on display over the two days.  Ranging from absolute legends of the industry such as the returning Bassnectar & Tiesto to current game changers – Martin Garrix, Krewella, DJ Snake, Adventure Club etc, the festival line-up has some incredible appeal.
