The Do Lab’s inaugural house and techno-focused camping festival has a carefully curated line-up designed to provide a rare and intimate musical experience. The Sherp lists six names that you ought to check out.
For the inaugural edition of the Woogie Weekend, The Do Lab chooses their old home at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, CA as the backdrop for their new three-day camping excursion. With their recently released lineup of eclectic artists including the legendary Nick Warren and Berlin’s Camea, the Woogie Weekend boasts a strong mix of established artists.
Although the Woogie is best known as the house and techno-centric stage at Lightning in a Bottle, the stage’s sound and vibe are inclusive of dance music’s diverse plethora of sounds. From disco to tropical grooves and progressive, the stage is beloved for its stellar roster of local and international talent. This year the magic and good vibes of the festival blossom as the Woogie concept comes full force with its own inaugural festival, Woogie Weekend. Expanding their beloved house and techno stage from Lightning in a Bottle, the combination of a familiar locale and a list of impeccable music promises another weekend filled with the same lively spirit as their much larger sister festival.
From July 17 – 19, the Woogie sees if their single stage foundation can prove ambitious enough to host a multiple stage event dedicated to the sounds of the 4/4 rhythm. Here are some of our picks:
1. Bedouin
With the atmospheric stylings of this Brooklyn-based duo, Rami Abousabe and Tamer Malk hope to inspire a tribal environment fitting of their name. Residents of Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream, Bedouin will showcase an uplifting, expressive mood reminiscent of the Playa.
2. Jeremy Sole
As one of the curators at seminal Los Angeles radio station KCRW, this tastemaker will bring diversity and hopefully some vinyl to Oak Canyon and is sure to keep your feet moving. Witness the knowledge below:
3. Danny Daze
Being careful not to identify with any one genre, Danny has been praised for his resourcefulness behind the decks. His techno-influenced sets are characterized with heavy bass and constant energy but there’ll always be a couple surprises you never saw coming.
4. J.Phlip
The Dirtybird princess once again takes her brand of booty bounce to the Woogie in July and her presence is much welcomed. Every time this small yet ferocious woman takes to the booth is a treat as she commands your attention with a persistent groove and energy. You can always count on Jess to keep the party going.
5. Jonas Rathsman
The first artist to be released off of Disclosure’s new imprint Method White, Jonas has been tipped as a “future star” by Pete Tong himself. This Swede’s take on deep house has quickly gained fans across the world and his productions have found support from numerous notable dj’s such as Waze and Odyssey, the Magician, and Skream. Don’t miss out on who is certain to be a mainstay for years to come.
6. Lee Burridge
The ageless godfather of Burning Man needs little introduction. His sunrise sets at Robot Heart have become tales of folklore and his marathon sets evoke a roller coaster of emotions. Be a part of the journey next month at Woogie Weekend.
