5 Reasons Why The Sherp Is Thrilled About The Return Of Camp Bisco

Camp Bisco is set to make its glorious comeback at a brand new venue and the Sherp highlights why this festival was dearly missed last year.

America’s music festival calendar has been grossly overflooded over the past few years, but there are some low-key, boutique festivals that truly provide a complete festival experience. One such festival is Camp Bisco – organized by livetronica band The Disco Biscuits. The band are taking the festival back to their Pennsylvania home this year, and here’s why the gathering is so special:

1. Cracking new venue

Montage Mountain is the fantastic new venue handpicked to host this year’s festivities.  The festival site includes ‘The Pavilion’, which is one of the most beautiful concert venues in the country. The Pavilion has been home to countless concerts & festivals over the years and is one of the rare venues that is built in tune with the surrounding nature.  In addition, there’s a waterpark right outside where you can jam in while listening to music, wild water rides, slides, a lazy river, a regulation sized volleyball court, a zipline overseeing the festival grounds & more.

2. Versatile Line-Up

Camp Bisco is renowned for putting together a fantastic blend of electronic and live jam acts each year. There’s a slight inclination towards electronic acts this year with Bassnectar (a frequent headliner), Pretty Lights, SNAILS, Sound Remedy and Kill The Noise on the roster, but with organizers Disco Biscuits leading the way, live music will certainly not take a back seat.

3. Camp Bisco Color Wars!

A campsite tradition – Color Wars was started back in 2003 and has since grown into one of the most highly anticipated activities of the festival. Revellers are divided into colored teams (Orange, Purple, Blue and so on) and on Day 2 of the festival, they battle it out in a number of events including Tug-Of-War, Volleyball, Musical Chairs and even a Bacon Cook –Off! Say goodbye to your campsite boredom.

4. A festival for every age-group

Camp Bisco is an EDM-Jam fused festival that brings out the best of both worlds. The Disco Biscuits have been around for almost a decade and their broad following attracts audiences of all ages. Today’s electronic sounds are also heavily featured at Camp Bisco, drawing the youngsters. Campsite activities such as the Color War bring together everyone in unison for 3 days of fun & frolic. So it’s safe to say that Bisco’s struck a perfect balance, experience-wise, for it to be attended by people of all ages.

5. A New Beginning

The festival’s resurrection this year came with a lot of changes. Moving to the Disco Biscuits’ hometown of Pennsylvania was just another step towards a new beginning. The festival faced intense scrutiny for several years due to countless drug related incidents, and the nail in the coffin came when a festival goer filed a civil lawsuit against the organizers after suffering from brain damage in 2012. The festival has intensified its security runs this year to ensure that there’s no such repeat and the Sherp certainly believes that the resurgence of this brilliant festival will be among the highlights of this American calendar.
