Tomorrowland’s coming closer and closer, so we’ve listed 25 sets that you cannot miss, whether you’re in Belgium or on the live stream!
The temple of EDM, or better still, “The Elixir Of Life” is back this year, with a giant lineup to boast of, and it’s unlike anything we’ve seen before. Come 22nd July, Tomorrowland will trend once again on all social media platforms, and we’ll probably see some history being made as usual.
For those who can’t make it to Belgium, Tomorrowland has a series of Unite shows planned around the world, where they set up an elaborate stage and stream the main stage live.
To get you prepared, here is a mammoth list of 25 acts that you shouldn’t miss at Tomorrowland 2016:
1. Deadmau5 b2b Eric Prydz
Whether you love them both or hate them both for their eccentric behaviour, you are definitely going to be curious about their extremely rare b2b set at possibly the grandest EDM stage of them all. They have an entire stage dedicated to themselves, with a killer lineup to match. Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz might just surpass everyone’s expectations, and some more. Watch out.
2. Armin Van Buuren
The trance legend has been at Tomorrowland countless times, and he’s going to bring his best performance here, like he always does. Armin has released quite a few songs lately on his Armada label, and might even play a couple of unreleased tracks. You know his set is going to be amazing, and you definitely do not want to miss this one. Also, trance is not dead.
3. Ferry Corsten/Gouryella
Ferry Corsten is performing under both, his real name, and his Gouryella project, albeit on different days. The trance maestro just recently put out a brand new Gouryella track called Neba, and it’s as phenomenal and trancey as you’d expect it to be. Both sets are going to be breathtaking, and trance purists are all set to enjoy their hearts out during his performances.
4. Yellow Claw
Yellow Claw is a duo now thanks to the departure of their MC Bizzey, with EDC having been their last stop as a trio. That, however, isn’t a roadblock in any way. Yellow Claw has been busy putting artists over on their Barong Family imprint, and delivering mind-numbing sets all around the world. If you want your dose of trap, hardstyle, hybrid beats and even a mosh pit, Yellow Claw’s set isn’t one to be missed.
5. Angerfist b2b Miss K8
Arguably the biggest names in the hardcore scene, Angerfist is going back to back with Miss K8. The upcoming Dominator festival in the Netherlands will be only a prelude of what is to come from these two acts. Get ready for distorted bass, thumping kicks, sound clipping and semi-violent moshing as the two hardcore DJs bring the madness to Tomorrowland.
6. Steve Angello
All the hype over Wild Youth hasn’t really died down; it’s still one of the freshest progressive house albums of the year, and possibly of the decade too. Steve Angello delivered a masterpiece with the single standout track from the entire album, Children Of The Wild, but that’s just our opinion. His label SIZE has been buzzing with releases from several amazing artists, and Steve might just include some in his Tomorrowland set.
7. Wiwek
The father of Jungle Terror, Wiwek’s releases keep getting better and better. From his early ones with Barong Family to his latest collaboration with Skrillex, Wiwek puts out the hardest-hitting electronic music out there, whether it’s four-to-the floor or trap or even some weird moombahton stuff. If you don’t headbang during a Wiwek set, you’re probably really fun at parties. Just saying.
8. Rezz
Rezz has seen a lot of praise in a relatively short time, and for all the right reasons. Her tracks are dark, grungy and industrial, just like her idol Gesafflestein. It’s not by fluke that her songs have landed up on both mau5trap and OWSLA, and she proves her worth with every festival performance. The tour dates keep stacking up for the 21-year old as she begins her journey to greatness.
9. KSHMR
KSHMR is probably one of the most liked and respected producers, both among his fans and fellow producers around the world. While he enthralls his fans with his sets and beautiful releases like Jammu and the entire Paradesi EP, he also helps out budding music producers by releasing sample packs and projects on Splice. His set at Tomorrowland is going to be a smasher, and you shouldn’t miss it.
10. Pig&Dan
For more than a decade, Pig&Dan have been jamming in the studio, producing musical adventures that hold their signature sound. Apart from their prolific work as producers, they’ve been traveling the globe as Peak time DJ’s and playing at some of the best events on the planet. They’ve been smashing it up at Ultra, Tomorrowland and Awakenings to name a few, and they’re back at Tomorrowland this year.
11. Adam Beyer b2b Ida Engberg
One of Sweden’s finest techno DJs, Adam Beyer just got married last month to his longtime girlfriend (and a phenomenal DJ herself), Ida Engberg. The Drumcode boss has had a busy schedule this year, travelling across Europe and the USA, and delivering some amazing sets, most of which land up as Drumcode Radio episodes. Their sets are magical, and this one will be too.
12. Nicky Romero
The Dutch producer has been all around the world, and his style of progressive and electro house has been emulated by other producers several times. There can be only one Nicky Romero, though. His label Protocol Recordings has seen a steady run of releases, though Nicky himself hasn’t released much lately, owing to anxiety issues. It’s good to see him back in business, and we cannot wait for him to *hopefully* drop some unreleased material.
13. Dyro
Dyro has evolved both as a producer and as a label owner, and his label WOLV is a testament to that. It’s a label that drifts away from the mainstream, to showcase a darker, harder style of electronic dance music. Dyro shows this in his own releases and sets, even playing dubstep and trapstyle from time to time. You have to see Dyro perform for yourself.
14. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike
The World’s No. 1 DJs are back on the biggest stage of them all. The lineup says that the duo are going to play a vinyl set (!!!) on Day 3. It’s not that it hasn’t happened before; Like Mike did some vinyl work during their own shows back in the Netherlands. We’ll just have to wait and see how that goes. For now, die-hard DVLM fans can rejoice, because their favourite duo is back.
15. Marshmello
Marshmello has been quite a hot topic as of late, and not for his releases. At EDC Las Vegas, the DJ “revealed himself” as Tiesto, setting online communities and forums on fire. Apart from that, the masked producer also released a lovely music video for his latest track. As for his Tomorrowland set, can he reveal himself as Dotcom this time? Just for fun?
16. The Chainsmokers
The duo is much more than just #SELFIE. With releases like Roses and Don’t Let Me Down, they’ve proven that they aren’t just another viral sensation that turned into a one-hit wonder. The Chainsmokers deliver the best during their sets, with some emotional trap and other EDM styles thrown into the mix. Don’t miss them at Tomorrowland 2016!
17. NGHTMRE b2b SLANDER
Both NGHTMRE and SLANDER came up in a relatively short time, and their songs are the reason why. It’s the perfect blend of dubstep, trap and many other influences. and they kno whow to play headbang-worthy sets. Both producers have been very consistent with their releases, and their Tomorrowland set is going to be as fresh as it gets!
18. Galantis
Ever since Runaway released, the duo have been on a roll, playing the biggest festivals in the world, and sold-out shows. Galantis’ style of EDM is emotional, captivating and enchanting. Their sets are full of all that, and you shouldn’t miss this one at Tomorrowland.
19. Moksi
Moksi is one of the brightest duos from Yellow Claw’s Barong Family label. With Moksi, it’s all about earth-shattering bass house that’ll make your ears burn out so much that you’ll want to do it all over again. They’ve dished out several originals and remixes, and there’s no stopping them at Tomorrowland either.
20. Martin Garrix
Putting his Animals days behind him, Martin Garrix has really evolved as a music producer. He has uploaded some really good songs this year, showing a very progressive style that seems to find a lot of takers. He now has a record label called STMPD, so expect a lot of Martin Garrix this year. Martin also treats fans to free downloads from time to time.
21. Dada Life
Dada Life is coming back to Tomorrowland! Almost every fan knows what goes down at Dada Land. They’re known for their banana obsession, their champagne showers and, of course, Sausage Fattener. As the duo would say: “This is Dada Land. Get ready to arrive beautiful and leave ugly. There are no rules but the rules of Dada.” Get ready to sweat during their Tomorrowland set!
22. Yotto
This producer is one of the most promising stars on the Anjunadeep roster, and his songs will tell you why. They’re proper 4AM ragers, yet festival-ready. Yotto’s sets are moody, deep and will take you on a journey. He has also been pretty consistent with his releases, so expect a really fresh set from the deep house genius.
23. Thomas Jack
The original propagator of tropical house is back. Thomas Jack recently released his first single in over 8 months, and it sounds as fresh as you’d expect. He has also promised newer stuff soon, so expect a ton of unreleased music from Thomas Jack in his set at Tomorrowland.
24. Ookay
Ookay exploded onto the scene when both his freshman and sophomore releases on Ultra Records charted in the top 10 on Beatport. Since then, he’s shown no sign of slowing down, working with some of the greatest producers in electronic music. He’s known for his bass-heavy trap stuff, occasionally taking fans by surprise and throwing in a couple of deep house songs on his SoundCloud profile. Don’t miss his set aT Tomorrowland; it’s going to be mental.
25. Otto Knows
Otto Knows is has become one of Sweden’s most popular exports, the next in the country’s rich lineage of musical talent. His most popular single, ‘Million Voices’ propelled Otto’s career graph forward, proving a consistent favorite both across the airwaves and on the white isle of Ibiza throughout 2012. He just released a track with his childhood friend Avicii, and is expected to kill it at Tomorrowland.
