Reading and Leeds 2014 was definitely one for the books, with massive headliners and stellar performances, there is a reason why this particular pair of rock festivals is the highlight of the UK festival season. Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s edition
1. Paramore’s 2- hour headlining set
After a emotional tribute to Queens Of The Stone Age, at one point Haley Williams (vocalist) brought a fan (dressed in a dinosaur suit) on stage to sing the band’s most popular track, ‘Misery Business’, saying, “I’ve seen this dinosaur, sing every word to every song we’ve played here tonight. Now this dinosaur is going to perform for you.”
2. Blink 182 made a comeback, and how!
After giving the crowd some of their greatest hits, like ‘What’s My Name Again’ and ‘All The Small Things’, they closed the festival with pyrotechnics and potty jokes.
3. Enter Shikari’s energy was palpable
Proved by this massive sing-along.
4. Sexually aggressive rap rave duo Die Antwoord, made THESE faces
PITBULL TERRIER!
5. The Arctic Monkeys were there!
Honestly, it wouldn’t be something worth missing even if they just stood on stage and waved to the crowd.
Their set finale ‘R U MINE’ will go down in Reading history as one of the best moments the festival’s seen.
6. Gerard Way made his much-anticipated solo debut
Yeah, with the red hair and everything. Makes you miss My Chemical Romance all the more.
7. The Leeds Festival site was drop-dead gorgeous
Not to mention, you could spin in the air on a carousel.
