10 Festival Moments That Made 2016 A Year Worth Remembering

This year’s music festivals will go down in history.

Hundreds and thousands of ravers converge every year in different parts of the world to celebrate music and there are far too many precious things for our eyes to see. Can you think of what were some of the most amazing moments this year?

Well, we cannot be everywhere, but here’s a fix of the past year’s most magical moments that made festivals around the world light up with joy.

1. Guns N’ Roses Reunited At Coachella 2016.

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, took place from the 15th to 17th of April and 22nd to 24th April, 2016. The highlight of the festival was it’s headlining act – Guns N’ Roses along with original members Axl Rose and Slash, marking the best reunion of this year! Coachella lived up to its tradition as the best place for rock ’n’ roll reunions. The last show Axl Rose and Slash played together at was in 1993! LCD Soundsystem’s performance was also a reunion for the now iconic dance group who last played together in 2011.

2. The Hills Came Alive With Arijit Singh At Enchanted Valley Carnival India.

Arijit Singh, India’s biggest singing sensation at the moment, is right up everyone’s festival list. The singer has gained tremendous fame over the past couple of years and his voice has the power to uplift everyone’s spirits. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that Enchanted Valley Carnival wanted him to give the performance of a lifetime at their newly-introduced Bollywood stage. Arijit, along with a 37 piece orchestra, serenaded his massive audience who had travelled the distance just to watch him!

3. When U2 Made it Rain Trump Dollars!

At the iHeartRadio Music Festival in September 2016 which rocked Las Vegas, U2 pulled one of the boldest tricks up their sleeves when they opened with “Desire” and had the audience on their feet as Ten Trillion dollar bills rained down on them with Donald Trump’s face and the words “Make America hate again” printed on the bills. The other side had “But we’re not the same” printed on them.

4. The Backstreet Boys Were Larger Than Life!

Speaking of the iHeartRadio Music Festival, we have to talk about the moment when dreams of fellow 90’s music enthusiasts came true as The Backstreet Boys took the stage and performed “Everybody”. As expected, the crowd sang along word to word. Such magic in the air! We can only wish we were a part of this!

5. Coldplay And A.R. Rahman Fixed Us With ‘Vande Mataram’ At Global Citizen India Festival.

How can we forget the moment when thousands gathered in Mumbai on 19th November 2016 for the first ever Global Citizen India Festival to watch Coldplay in action. But the moment that took the cherry on this cake was when Chris Martin sang ‘Vande Mataram’ with the the one and only A.R. Rahman and waved the Indian national flag. A moment that will be etched in our memories forever as one of the most stunning nights of our existence? We have no words, just “Maa tujhe Salaam”.

6. Resistance Stage At the Ultra Music Festival 2016 Was Magnificent.

Ultra Music Festival will never cease to amaze us all. As we bask in the glory of their stupendous world-class stage production, let’s take another moment to fully realize the awesomeness that Resistance stage in Miami 2016 was! Look at the magnificent spider stage; it definitely steals the show! And to highlight that, instead of talking about the killer line-up, is a historical memory being made in itself!

7. Boeing 747 Really Arrived At Burning Man 2016.

On August 28th, Burning Man kicked off with a bang in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. Every year, a community of thousands wear crazy costumes and fuel their creative minds with elaborate art displays and music. Burning Man is know for bringing offbeat art installations that usually steal the limelight at the festival And this year was no exception. The artist collective ‘Big Imagination Foundation’ brought a Boeing 747 jet to life with trippy lights and lounges that left attendees starstruck. The installation also hosted a program of speakers, events and parties.

8. Adele Faced Her Fears At Glastonbury 2016.

Adele headlined U.K.’s famous Glastonbury festival this year in June and called it “the best fucking moment of my whole life”. First things first, Adele is anxious to perform before that huge a crowd. But she still blew everyone’s minds with her emotional set and rendition of her hit songs while filling the whole environment with warmth. We need more of Adele at festivals.

9. Martin Garrix Announced As The Youngest Ever To Top DJMag 2016 Ranking At ADE.

This year’s Amsterdam Dance Event will remain iconic as Martin Garrix, the prodigy of electronic dance music, became the youngest to be named No. 1 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs annual poll. He was presented the award by Tiesto at an Awards Event at Amsterdam’s Music Hall. Imagine the career this guy is heading for.

10. When Deadmau5 And Eric Prydz Rocked Tomorrowland 2016.

This year, the crowd at one of the biggest EDM festivals in the world saw two of dance music’s biggest names, Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz, go B2B along with mad lasers, lights and fireworks to round off the first day at Tomorrowland 2016. The hype for this was huge but no one was left disappointed. We crave for more, please!
