Here’s The Sherp’s take on Cedric Gervais’ Mumbai gig!

The monsoon calendar could not have been better. With so many brilliant acts coming down to India, next in line was French powerhouse DJ-Producer-Actor, Cedric Gervais. This being his maiden tour to India, there was much hype around the Miami-based Frenchman’s arrival, as his tracks ‘Summertime Sadness’ and ‘Molly’ had recently shattered the Beatport charts. Club Royalty in Bandra, Mumbai was the venue chosen for this blockbuster night which was to follow.

The Sherp got to the venue at 11.30 P.M and the scene was expertly set by opening act Aditya Wanwari. He kept everyone alive and on their feet, dishing out some fresh and energetic tunes. He played an impeccable set characterized by some massive drops and silky smooth transitions, an inch perfect opening to the epic night that awaited us. The club was considerably packed with everyone eagerly awaiting the man of the moment to get the night rolling.

With the crowd warmed up, The Sherp had a brief interview with Cedric Gervais which was shortly followed by Aditya Wanwari fading out his last track. Cedric started off his set at about 1 A.M with a typical instrumental build up, and then took over the mic yelling out “Mumbai, how you feeling? This is my first time in India, and this is crazy, so if you’re ready to party with me, make some noise!” And then it began! He blew the roof off by playing chart busters such as Deniz Koyu’sRage’, renowned for its incredible BPM drop which specializes in teasing the audience. Also, Arno Cost’sHead Up’, Showtek’sCannonball’ & ‘Who’ by Plastic Funk injected everyone with a rush which Club Royalty has probably never witnessed before.

The entire venue was echoing, especially the VIP section which had the best view of Cedric and his console. Then the moment arrived when we witnessed the best of Cedric Gervais. He let loose his recent hits ‘Summertime Sadness’ & ‘Young & Beautiful’ and the phenomenal ‘Molly’. The build up to ‘Molly’ enveloped the venue with an eccentric vibe which was brilliantly complemented by the amazing lighting and sound at Royalty.  As the night went on, The Frenchman continued dropping a series of bangers including a remix of Icona Pop’sI Love It’ (which is arguably THE most popular vocals being used by DJs right now) followed soon by Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike & Moguai’sMammoth’ which threw everyone into a frenzy. Other tracks included Chuckie & Promiseland’sBreaking Up’, ‘Crusher’ by Deformaty and Alesso’sRaise Your Head’.

The night was characterized by an undying energy which Cedric never failed to supply, as he dished out the old and new which everyone in the crowd could connect with. All in all, a perfect set, a perfect night!

A big shout out to WMS, Shark & Ink & 911 Entertainment for making this as spectacular as it was!
