Electronic music fans, rejoice! For the amazingly curated dance music giant Sensation is coming to India, and here’s everything you need to know about it.Β

India is slowly, but truly on its way to becoming an epicentre of the global electronic music movement. For just a few months after techno biggie Awakenings, yet another global electronic project is heading to India. Amsterdam’s dance music company, Sensation, responsible for the animated Sensation Amsterdam that confluences multiple genres of house music in an energetic manner, is on its way to India this March.Β And here’s everything you need to know about the one of the biggest dance events on the planet!

The history

Sensation was a dance music event that originated in Netherlands way back in 2000. Back in its early years of formation, Sensation was but a single event that unfurled in the country. By bringing together multiple sub genres that command the dance music space, the event thrived in the electronic music-loving country that Netherlands is, and slowly rose enough to branch out to several other countries. In the last decade along, Sensation grew to be a viable dance music project in Belgium, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Italy, Britain, United States of America, Taiwan, Brazil, South Africa, Germany , Russia and many others.

The story of the whiteΒ

Think Sensation, and every electronic music zealot from around the world can picturise an event filled to the brim with attendees in white. It was a Sensation tradition for all attendees to dress in white. The event, held usually indoors in large, overwhelming structures, would fill up with lights that would gallantly mark themselves on the garment. The loyalists turn up in the choicest of white clothes, and the tradition by itself, is a custom every electronic music fan wishes to be a part of.

All the attendees wear white and the set up is designed to resemble the theme. Some of the most popular electronic producers have been part of Sensation white such as – Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Hardwell, Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Afrojack, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Chuckie, Steve Angello, Marco V, Paul Van Dyk, among several others.

But one would think where the love for the white garb comes from.

Sensation’s White Dress code was begun to payΒ tribute to one of Sensation’s founders MilesΒ Stutterheim, when he tragically lost his life in 2000. Attendees, performers and the crew – they all wore white to celebrate the life he lived through the event he worked hard to bring together. Since then, the colour has risen from its respectable origins to symbolise the emotion of the event, itself. It’s not only about the relaxed vibe promised by Sensation, but also about dissolving into it completely. The feeling of euphoria experienced when you enter Sensation’s premises, and merge in with the other attendees dressed in white is unparalleled, to say the very least.

Sensation’s mantra,Β β€˜Be part of the night, dress in white’, isn’t just a slogan. It’s a way of life.

Overwhelming production skills

The winner of several best indoor festival award, Sensation usually employs indoor venues and transforms them to a scale that is both expansive as the music it features and larger-than-life production skills that makes the experience that much more incredible.
