This April, get ready for an MTV Indies property βSPIRO” that will be bringing to you four days of pop-up gigs, comedy and cinema headlined by massively popular Trip Hop artistes The Glitch Mob and Pretty Lights!
Deemed an ‘Urban Takeover’ and marking the one-year anniversary of the Pepsi Mtv Indies channel, Spiro will be more than just an ‘indie gig in Bandra’ with four days from April 1 to 4 of pop-up gigs, music, comedy and cinema all culminating to the headlining event on the 4th. Ever since the inception of the Pepsi Mtv Indies,Β the platform has been successful in carving a niche for itself by promoting independent artists and providing indie lovers with great music, comedy, films across screens and interesting on-ground experiences across the country and beyond.
For the first four days of April 2015, SPIRO will take over the city of Mumbai with multiple events across music, comedy and film. Beginning at extreme ends of the city, SPIRO will weave its way towards the centre, showcasing the best of contemporary indie culture along the way.
Since his debut in 2006, Pretty Lights has been holding the indie torch high, with a prolific stream of releases β available as free downloads on his website. Heβs gone on to perform at the biggest music festivals in the world, including Coachella, Bonnaroo, Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Music Festival, Outsidelands and Electric Zoo. This performance will be a visual and musical experience of no other, we assure you.
What The Sherp is particularly excited about is an eventΒ called the ‘Indie Awkwards’, which will the a first of it’s kind spoof award show for “the best and obvious of Indian Indie” hosted by Hoezaay and Varun Thakur.
