India’s biggest indie music festival is implementing disability-friendly measures throughout the festival.

Bacardi NH7 Weekender is one of the most successful music and outdoor events in India, garnering massive crowds to the festival venues with every coming year. This year, OML, the company behind NH7 Weekender, and Bacardi India decided to implement helpful measures on festival grounds to enable easy mobility and a untarnished experience for disable festival goers.

“Music has no barriers, our endeavour is to continually create memorable experiences and unforgettable properties for every Bacardi fan. With this initiative, we have set a new benchmark for all the major events happening in the country,” says a Bacardi representative to IBN Live.

These measures include “personal assistant” tickets, which allow attendees with disabilities or any kind of mobility impairment to request a ticket on Insider.in, which will provide a designated volunteer to accompany the attendee into the festival. Reserved parking and a separate counter for wrist band pick-up will also be available to these attendees.

Within the festival grounds, stages will be connected by temporary mud tracks for more convenient wheelchair movement, and higher viewing platforms will be located next to the sound consoles with ramps to provide access for riders using wheelchairs, scooters, crutches, walkers or other mobility aids.

What do you think of this new Disability Policy? NH7 Weekneder takes place this weekend in Delhi and on December 4-6 in Pune. Keep tabs on Festival Sherpa for more news.
