The Canadian band’s performance included a prank cameo by the legendary Daft Punk, as audiences rocked out to ‘Get Lucky’ dished out by the impostors.

There was quite a frenzy around Coachella on social media during the festival’s 2 weekends – as special guest appearances during performances became a common phenomena – From Solange being joined by sister Beyonce, to Nas and Jay ZMary J Blige accompanying Disclosure to Pharrell bringing out everyone he’s ever worked with.

The thunder was quite extravagantly stolen by Arcade Fire as an appearance was made by what looked to be the two members of Daft Punk dressed all in white and wearing their trademark robot hats. They proceeded to perform a slowed-down version of “Get Lucky,” their billboard hit from last year. It is unclear, however, whether the two were in fact Daft Punk members Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo.  Some in the crowd also claimed to have heard the band frontman Win Butler address them as “Paft Dunk”.

Here’s an Instagram post that captured the robots in question’s cameo:

During Arcade Fire’s weekend one set, Butler criticized the overabundance of EDM acts by dedicating a song “for all the bands at this festival playing real instruments.” So the fake appearance of the legendary electronic duo seemed more like a cheeky statement from the Canadians than anything.

There has been no official statement from either artist confirming the legitimacy of their performance. The Sherp can’t wait to see how this brews up. Stay tuned for more.
