The summer leg of the festival season kicks off soon, with an impressive list of festivals in its back pocket.Β 

 

1. Mysteryland USA – May 23rd to 26thMysteryland

Why : For those of you who do follow EDM culture to the T you can swear by Mysteryland’s tremendous impact on dance music culture in the past years. This year, the festival extends to the much hallowed and sacred grounds of Β (where the world famous 60’s festival) ‘Woodstock’. The similarities between the impacts of the two festivals are uncanny and it’s quite obvious why Bethel Woods, New York Β was picked to host the massive event.

We needn’t tell you what’s in store for it’s US debut. You should just watch.

 

2. Hang Out Festival, Alabama US – May 16 to 18.

Why : Two words – Beach Festival. To celebrate all that is sunny and cheerful Β Hangout festival (held in Alabama) is back for its fifth edition to the beautiful beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama this May. This year’s lineup boasts of sets from The Black Keys, The Killers, Outkast, Jack Johnson, Queens of the Stone Age, Pretty Lights and so much more.
Think of Β three days packed with amazing music, food and a view that can’t be beat. The festival is sold out, but stay tuned for schedule and live stream updates.

 

3. Electric Daisy Carnival, New York – 24th & 25th May.

Why : A relatively long standing dance music extravaganza that brings literally every contemporary dance musician together coupled with a anΒ imaginative landscape + hundreds of theatrical performers + pyrotechnics. Β Coupled with the fact that it’s being held around the same time as Mysteryland Β (which probably makes it hard to choose) the infamous Owl Stage will debut at EDC NY this year. Β Have a look!

 

 

4. WE ARE FSTVL,UK – 24th &25th May.
We are Festvl

Why:Β The new festival on the block that won a multitude of awards in it’s debuts year. WE ARE FSTVL is proven to be quite epic with it’s 16 unique stages filled with 200 of the world’s legendary and soon to be legendary DJ’s and producers. If you’re a lover of electronic music and all it’s various, this festival is just for you.

5.Β The Great Escape, UK

Why : Line-up includesΒ Kelis, Jungle, Charli XCX, ChlΓΆe Howl, Ella Eyre, Arthur Beatrice, Fat White Family, Benjamin Clementine, Circa Waves, Courtney Barnett, Denai Moore, Traams, Woman’s Hour, Flux Pavilion, Flyte, Future Islands, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Marika Hackman, Rosie Lowe, Royal Blood, September Girls, Shopping, Shy Nature, Theo Verney and so much more!

What’s the deal? The Great Escape is pretty much like the Camden Crawel, except the acts are way better.
The music takes place at various bars, clubs, halls and other temporary venues across the city, and although it’s a key event for music industry types to ‘network’ (read: drink more than usual), for everyone else it’s basically a good excuse to catch loads of cool upcoming bands and DJs.

 

6. Lightning In A Bottle, US – May 22nd to 26th.

Why : This festival is for everyone who is willing to get assaulted by art, music and powerhouse performances. It’s for anybody who needs, rather craves that in life. Β A perfect amalgamation of everything that represents contemporary music festival culture.Β It’s five days of Β – Art, Music, Performance, Live painting and workshops on sustainability and a host of other subjects.
And its line up you ask?Β Moby, Little Dragon, Amon Tobin, Simian Mobile Disco & Ryan Hemsworth are among the few names headlining the DoLab curated festival.Β LightningΒ in a BottleΒ is far more than justΒ anotherΒ festival.Β Billed as aΒ β€˜transformational event’ this event encompassesΒ music, art, yoga, speakers, workshops, interactiveΒ experiencesΒ and much more.
