How great would it be to be in Germany right now? Celebrating the Germans’Β much deserved football World Cup Trophy? Nothing short of awesome, one would imagine. So if you’re in or around Germany, celebrating the win here’s a list of the most exciting music & cultural festivals you can check out.

1. Melt!
When : 18th to 20th July
Lineup attractions : Baauer, Dusky, Pretty Lights, SBTRKT, Roksyopp, Alex Banks (live)

Melt! is Germany’sΒ  ultimateΒ “Electronic Meets Rock”Β festivalΒ that takes place in Germany Held in the giant industrial museum Ferropolis, the event spreads over 6 floors, and has a line-up of over 80 live acts over the weekend.

Reviews have described the event as cheerful and elevated, and when temperatures are high, many take advantage of the nearby fresh water lake.Β This a very busy partyΒ festival, where camp-sites are usually packed but friendly, and although the attendance is mainly German, theΒ festivalΒ has vast gained a European popularity, with attendance climbing from 2,000 to 16,000 in it’s first decade.

 

2. Berlin Festival
When : September 5th to 7th
Lineup Attractions : Warpaint, Trentmoller, Nina Kraviz, Chase & Status (DJ set), Crystal Fighters, Darkside

It’s a two-day outdoor rock/ electro music event which is located near the city of Berlin, Germany on a former airfield Β which is now a community park.Β It was first organized in 2005, since then, it’s audience has grown to about 20,000 visitors.Β The festival was awarded ‘Best European Festival Line-Up’ at the European Festival AwardsΒ in 2013.

3. Nature One
When: August 1st to 3rd
Lineup Attractions : Markus Schulz, Axwell, Mogwai, Carl Cox, Len Faki, Sven Vath.

Nature One is the rave of all rave camping festivals, held at Raketenbasis Pydna what was a rocket base once. Go figure! This festival unites over 50,000 people, with it’s line ups getting better by the year. There’s everything EDM you need : Techno, trance, minimal, hard style…you name it.

Special mention goes out to the Nature One campsite – that is probably the best part of the festival. While you’re not losing your head raving at one of the main stages, you can hang out at the camp – bbqing, playing beer pong, enjoying some day time dj-ing.

 

4. C/O Pop Festival
When : 20th to 24th AugustΒ 
Line Up Attractions : Cashmere Cat, The Glitch Mob, Warpaint

The “c/o pop festival”, Cologne’s most popular summer festival , sets the pace for the latest vibes in electronic music. During the five days, Cologne will become a mecca of pop culture. The festival will offer a mix of established artists and newcomers playing in unconventional venues.

5. Stimmen Festival
When : 23rd July to 3rd August
Line up attractions : Elton John, Babyshambles, Anna Calvi

What’s really great about STIMMEN Festival is its location – a gorgeous Basel are on the combined borders of Switzerland, France & Germany. As long as music you can expect – keep your eyes and ears peeled for some talented acts of indie, pop, rock, electro and even nu-jazz & classical. Β Over the past 20 years musicians like Bob Dylan, Lenny Kravitz, p!nk, Paul Simon & Alanis Morissette have performed at this experience-full festival.

6. Oktoberfest
When : Late September to October
Attractions : Beer, Beer & Beer

Not the usual summer festival but definitely something taking a sabbatical from work for, Oktoberfest is pretty much the largest beer centric festival in the world held annually inΒ Munich,Β Bavaria,Β Germany. It is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year. Β The Oktoberfest is an important part ofΒ BavarianΒ culture, having been held since 1810.
