Not a long time ago, Croatia was still one of those pristine, untouched party locations thatย attracted only the smart ravers and the explorers. Right now, it trumps Ibiza on the list of party destinations around the world. Several revellers are packing their bags and moving out of Ibiza and into the clear blue waters of the coastal country.ย

Hereย areย The Sherp’s picksย for the best Croatian festivals on offer, and if you’re spending your money on a music festival, this listย should come in handy.ย Most of them usually happen in the month of August, because that’s when summertime is.

1. Ultra Europe

If youโ€™re in the country this July and need a reason to party hard, you know where to head to. It’s the only festival on this list that’s happening inside a stadium, the humongous Poljud Stadium in Split. There’s an Ultra Beach happening too at the same time. Replicating the Miami edition, it’ll have pretty much everyone from the DJMag list, and a few more.

Want to visit Ultra Europe? Check out these travel packages here and don’t miss it!

2. Sonus Festival

If you want to enjoyย some good techno for 5 days and 5 nights from some of the best DJs in the world, Sonus is for you. Come August, Sonus Festival will take place at Zrce Beach on Pag Island. The lineup hasn’t been announced yet, but last year had Richie Hawtin, Seth Troxler, Marco Carola, Nic Fanciulli, Pan-Pot and several other big names, which should give you a slight idea of what this year’s lineup might be.

5. Dream Island Festival

Happening at the Noa Beach Club, Dream Island is also an EDM festival that takes place in the month of July. 6.ย Movement Croatia

Movement doesn’t need an introduction at all. It has been one of the top techno festivals in the world, and has celebrated 10 years in Detroit already. Movement also has an offshoot event in Croatia, happening at The Garden Resort, with a stellar lineup featuring some of the best talents in the techno scene. Movement Croatia happens in July.

7. Outlook Festival

Outlook, one of the better known and recognized festivals of Croatia, is also known to be Europeโ€™s largest bass music and sound culture festival. Held at the Fort Punta Christo, the venue is home to lots of moats, dungeons and pretty great sound systems. It’s for those who want a different kind of vibe. Outlook has been having pre-parties around the world to promote the festival; the main festival happens by the end of August.

8. Soundwave Festival

Soundwave Croatia, one of Europeโ€™s most friendly and intimate festivals, stands out from this list because of its alternative and laid-back nature, and its focus on jazz, dub, reggae and hip-hop music. It’s happening in Tisno at the start of August, so if you’re not the EDM kind, this one’s for you. Soundwave also has aย live art and film programme, incorporated only by a handful of music festivals in the world.

9. Electric Elephant

Electric Elephant is a pure world of fancy, with an absolute maddeningly good lineup the festival offers more than just a dance party. Youโ€™re encouraged to relax in the sunshine, swim in the sea and dance through the night without pulling any stops.

10. The Garden Festival / Love International

Another Sherpโ€™s pick from the lot of music events taking place in Croatia is Love International. It’s the spiritual successor to The Garden Festival, which had its last outing in 2015. On the banks of the Adriatic waters, warmed by the idyllic sunlight, it gives you an electronic festival with a stage bang in the middle of the water. Spend the lazy afternoons basking in the sunโ€™s glory as you catch your favourite electronic acts.

11. Lost Theory Festival

Psy trance doesn’t fall very far behind in Croatia. While the beaches are reserved for all the cool deep house and tropical house parties and fests, this absolutely crazy psy trance festival can be found if you travel inland. The Lost Theory Festival is held in a serene setting in theย Croatian interior, with all the vibes you need.

12. Dimensions Festival

Dimensions takes place in a fort in Pula, Croatia at the same venue where the aforementioned Outlook Festival takes place. With a venue of incomparable beauty and an impressive underground line up to boot, Dimensions Festival is one of those hidden beauties you only want to tell your best friends about.

Thereย are several other festivals that happen in Croatia in the summers, and now you know it’s the only worthy place to be at if you’re into music festivals and you know summertime’s approaching!
